Frequently asked questions

What are the limitations of the free version?

The free version of Gecata has the following restrictions: 10 minutes of continuous capture, watermark on the output videos.

Can I record from webcam?

Yes, you can. Gecata captures both webcam and computer screen output together or separately.

Can I record game sounds?

Yes, you can. Gecata captures both game sounds and sound from your microphone as independent streams so that you can edit them separately afterward.

Will my game work with Gecata?

We are continuously testing new games with Gecata – see the full list of the games we’ve already tested on our Supported Games page. If you don’t see your game on the list, be aware that, if it supports DirectX 11 or earlier or OpenGL, it should work fine with Gecata. Most probably, we’ve just haven’t gotten around to testing it yet.

Does the program work offline?

Yes, Gecata works offline. You don’t need an internet connection to record your gameplay and save the video. However, you will need it if you want to upload your video to YouTube or Google Drive using the video editor built into the program.

How often do you update Gecata?

We are continuously improving the program: minor updates come out every 3 months. More about updates.

Is it safe to install Gecata on my computer?

Yes, Gecata is completely safe to use. You won’t have malware or hacking problems.

How сan I remove the watermark from a video?

A watermark appears on the output file if you are using a trial version of the program. To remove the watermark, you first need to purchase a license and activate the program using the key you receive in the confirmation email. To purchase a license, go to the Buy Now page and choose one of the offers.

What are the payment options?

You can pay for your purchase using a variety of methods, including:

  • Bank/Wire transfer

What happens after I’ve paid?

When your payment is complete, you will receive an email with an activation key, which you should enter in the appropriate field in the trial version of the program. More about activation.

I haven’t received an activation key. What do I do?

The average time to deliver an email with an activation key is 15 minutes. If you didn't receive the email in this time frame, check your spam folder: it may be there. If it’s not, contact our Support Team.

How long will it take to get a response from the Support Team?

Usually, our technical support will respond within 3 business days. If your question is very urgent, try looking for an answer in our knowledge base first. Visit the Knowledge Base.

What’s the difference between a personal and a business license?

Get the personal license if you are planning to use the program for non-commercial purposes at home. The business license allows commercial use of the program in a business environment. Personal and business versions of the program itself usually have identical functionality, unless the product description says otherwise.

Can I use one license to install a program on several computers?

No. One license key can be used for an activation on a single computer. If you want to use a program on several machines at the same time, please buy that many separate license keys.
